Gjipe Bay (Gjiri i Gjipese)

Gjipe Bay is located to the northwest of Jale Beach (Jali i Vunoit). It is formed by the Gjipe Stream, which has a deep bed and a 200-meter-wide mouth. The stream is flanked by very steep and high cliffs, reaching up to 150 meters in height with a nearly vertical slope of about 90°. The stream and its canyon are visible from the sea at a distance of 2–3 nautical miles.

The Jali Gorge and Beach are connected to the village of Vuno via paved roads. These roads are part of the coastal route that links four villages to Vlora and Saranda.

Depths and Navigation

The depths in the gorge are generally good. The 5-meter isobath runs almost directly alongside the northern and southern shores, while along the eastern shore, it lies 40–50 meters offshore. Small motorboats can dock directly on the rocks of the southern shore, where remnants of an old pier are still visible.

The gorge is mostly protected from northern, eastern, and southeastern winds, making it relatively safe for small vessels.

Gjipe Bay is a natural wonder, offering dramatic scenery with its towering cliffs, crystal-clear waters, and tranquil setting—perfect for those seeking adventure, solitude, or a unique slice of the Albanian Riviera.
