Soldier’s Beach in Saranda

A Beach with a History
During the Communist era, under the dictatorship, there was a military base situated on the hill above the beach. The soldiers stationed there lived in isolation, and they would often come down to this small and beautiful beach to refresh themselves in the crystal-clear waters of the Ionian Sea.
As boats frequently passed by, visitors would see the soldiers relaxing on this secluded shore. This is how the beach got its name, “Soldier’s Beach”, a name that is still used today.
